SOS Philippines Awarded 9 SOS Mothers In The Honour Ring Ceremony


On September 27, 2018, nine SOS mothers were honoured and awarded in the monumental Mother’s Honour Ring Ceremony held at SOS Children’s Village Manila in Alabang, Muntinlupa for their unwavering service and commitment to the children of SOS.

In recognition of the love and care that these mothers have showered their children, Ma. Liza Avenido, Irna Faustino, Arlita Peralta, Wilma Salutan, Maruja Caboboy, Fe Saclot, Alma Aranas, Lilebeth Abella, and Catalina Celendro are bestowed a certificate, a gift, and a Ring of Honour.

The ceremony started with a solemn prayer followed by Mr. Siddharta Kaul’s, the President of SOS Children's Village International, speech to commence the honouring. Also gracing the event was Ms. Shubha Murthi, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of SOS Children's Village International, who awarded the certificates. Ms. Maria Angeles Lapena, SOS Children's Villages Philippines President, handed the gifts and bouquet, while Pres. Kaul bestowed the Honour Rings.

To close the ceremony, Ms. Gemma Goliat, SOS Children's Villages Philippines National Director, delivered a heartening speech. To quote, “In the Filipino language, a home is called “tahanan”. It comes from the root word “tahan” which means to stop crying. You, mothers, are the reason why children stop crying. You are the symbol of home. You are the one who stops children from crying and will continue to do so for the children who once lost their way but have now seen the right path”.
