Australian Embassy Supports The Alalay Bags Project Of SOS Children’s Village In Bataan

The Alalay Bags Project of SOS Children’s Village in Bataan is an income generating project of the Family Strengthening Program (FSP) of SOS Children’s Villages Philippines. It provides livelihood assistance to mothers in the community through handicrafts and bag making. Now on its second year, the Australian Government through Direct Aid Program has granted the support for this project.

The Alalay Bags of SOS Children’s Village Bataan started as a small-scale bag-making project. The mothers of Family Strengthening Program (FSP) beneficiaries started producing bags for around 80 children for SOS CV Bataan and then eventually received additional orders from other SOS Villages in the Philippines. Now, the mothers explore on recycling and upcycling of plastic products and creatively convert them into bags, slippers and other usable products. This project helps our beneficiaries achieve the FSP community dream which has become our guide and inspiration throughout the years: “A loving home for every child = self-reliant families = empowered community.”
