Lipa
City, Batangas - Last June 15, SOS Children’s Villages Philippines, a non-profit organization, operating as a
home to children who have lost parental care,
and Onocom Co., Ltd-Japan - a multinational construction company held a launch event
at Herman Gmeiner National Training Center (HGNTC), Lipa City, Batangas, to declare
their long-term partnership.
A
pact of commitment was signed by SOS Children’s Villages Philippines National
Director, Ms. Gemma Goliat and President of Onocom, Mr. Tatsuro Ono to seal the
10 to 15-year partnership that will provide Onocco, a school that will cater to street children,
abandoned and neglected children or children whose family cannot afford to give
them education. Its aim is to provide children in need with
technical vocational training such as driving, automotive, and welding that are
highly in demand jobs in Japan. As part of the program’s curriculum, Nihongo class
for children and youth will be included to better prepare them for employment.
